Strangely, it's when he's almost delirious from exhaustion that his best work tends to come out. Sometimes it's after fifteen straight hours in the studio with Teddy, shooting the shit and playing with countless beats that increasingly start sounding the same-or in the midst of a frenzied whirlwind of preparations for some concert or music show or fan meeting, as his brain's starting to slide into autopilot mode after weeks on end of grueling schedules.
Something in his head just clicks, then, words and melodies pouring out of his mouth as the dam breaks, Teddy directing him like a lightning rod in a thunderstorm. That's good, Teddy says, fiddling with the sound and scribbling everything down as cresting waves of fatigue and inspiration pound at the back of Jiyong's throat, intertwining until he can't be sure which is which anymore.
There are, he thinks, more important things than sleep.
