The first thing that hits Myungsoo is the whites of the CEO’s office: white walls and white lights and the boy’s white smile as they’re introduced to each other.
His name is L and it’s like falling through a mirror. For a brief moment, Myungsoo sees the trepidation in Jungyeop’s eyes before it burns away.
“You both know what you’re supposed to do for the group?”
L nods easily and Myungsoo’s verbalized, Yes, wavers but Jungyeop appears satisfied enough.
This was two years ago.
Today, it’s just the two of them in the office. The white still hurts Myungsoo’s eyes.
“What now?” he asks, closing the door carefully.
“Like Jungyeop-hyung said - Infinite doesn’t need the both of us any longer.”
It’s true; the fans see through L’s façade. They prefer Kim Myungsoo and it sends regret panging through him. L has done so much, he thinks, but it’s over for him today. A disposable clone.
“Myungsoo.”
L’s voice is as steady as the sudden touch to the base of Myungsoo’s neck. Funny how he’s never noticed the slight bump there. The last thing Myungsoo sees is his own quiet realization in L’s eyes: Who ever said you were the original?
