Joohyun is surveying the scene at the docks when she feels a presence at her side. Her fists clench instinctively and she tenses up, thinking it's another drunken sailor. She turns to look at her companion and is surprised to find a small blonde woman. The surprise must have shown on her face because suddenly the woman is laughing. It's girlish and sweet and Joohyun feels her heart skip a beat

Over the next few months, Seohyun finds that growing up and moving on is a lot harder than she originally thought. She still finds herself in tears sometimes, wishing for her old life as Joohyun because Joohyun never had to see nice girls like Luna stab men through the gut, and she still flinches every time the Captain gives the order to torch a whole ship, but they wouldn't be so feared if Taeyeon was more like Seohyun. Her face still lights up when she walks in on Yuri and Yoona, or Yuri and Amber, or Yuri and- she still can't look Yuri in the eyes sometimes, and she still pretends not to be confused every time Jessica and Hyoyeon go from fighting like rabid dogs to fornicating like wild rabbits

Sunny frowns at the panic that has painted itself across Seohyun's usualy collected features but Seohyun isgnores the blonde's silent question and pulls her in, kissing her like it's the most important thing in the world and, to Seohyun, it kind of is.

"Seohyun," her new name still sounds foreign on her tongue but she's sure that will fade with time, "I'm Seohyun and this," she gestures all around her and tries to find the words to explain everything, the old ship and the new one, the people, the ocean, all of it, it's all part of her now but nothing seems appropriate enough so she settles on taking Sunny's hand and placing it over her heart. Sunny seems to know what she's saying though, because she does the samewith Seohyun's hand.

"I'm Sunny," she breathes "and you" she presses Seohyun's hand closer to her chest.

Seohyun wakes with a start in the dead of night and she swears she feels the ghost of a whisper in the air around her.

"Sunny," she shakes the sleeping woman's shoulder, "Sunny, wake up."

" 's okay, Seohyun," she's only half-conscious and she plants sluggish kisses along Seohyun's collrabone, " 's okay..."

"No, no, wake up" SUnny pats her face in response and Seohyun gives up. She climbs out of her hammock to find someone who will actually listen and she freezes when she hears it again, that quiet whisper. She rushes over to the nearest person and tries to shake them awake

This was a fun read. :') That last scene, where Seohyun searches for Sunny - I really like how it turned out.
