On Vox: Farm Envy

We had our first meeting/"practice pickup" with our new CSA tonight, and the farm is *beautiful*!  There was a charming house surrounded by several rustic barns/buildings, all set in serene gardens.  A quick walk through the gardens and you're at the crop beds where early crops are already looking good.  The first harvest should be happening the ( Read more... )

THAT IS SO COOL!! I don't think there is anything like that here. You can only just sign up for a box of organics to be delivered to your house.

*L* If you would've asked me when I was looking for a local farm, I would've told you my ideal find would've delivered, and not required us to work on the farm. Now that I've seen the place, I'm -happy- that we have an excuse to drop in at least once a week, and I -wish- they'd ask us to help out on the farm! :D

Sort of. I wouldn't call Delta urban, and I certainly wouldn't call Waterville urban. ;)

We drove down some county roads I don't think I've ever been down before, and WOW! There's some -gorgeous- land not to far from here! WANT! It doesn't hurt that Maumee State Forest was right there too. Just gorgeous.

Hey, we're definitely planning on being at B&N tomorrow, but we can't be there until closer to 7pm. Any chance you'll be there around that time? Craig has something for you. I know Liz and Lori have said they'd be there too. We'd love to see you.

At this point, it would appear to be viable.

yes, there is some wonderful country out there.

My late wife's grandfather had a bit of land south and west of Swanton, she spent most of her summers out there. and when we got married, I would take her and her mother on drives out through the old places and fond memories. My late wife and I talked extensively about buying land out there and building a retirement home (I kept pushing for a geodisc dome).

I'd forgotten about about it largely until I discovered that Alehedowin's home was in the same area. If I had known that she lived in the same area, I'd have done more to really earn her ex-husbands appelation of "Ultimate Evil".

YAY! I'm planting this week too. I'm going to spend the weekend cleaning up my raised bed and marking out a new one, figuring out what I need to do to start it, but sometime during the week, on a warm sunny morning, I'll go out and plant. I'm so excited! :D

And I LOVE growing basil. One year I had basil plants that were hip-high! Last year they never even took off though. :( I'm going to baby them this year
