Pruning the "Friends List"

LJ seems to be a dying beast. I'm still here, but I sometimes feel a palpable echo when I post. I'm not digging for comments, mind you, just noting the emptiness. In order to tighten things up and make it a little cozier in here, I'm cleaning up my friends list a bit and cutting some folk that haven't posted in years. It does feel like that, doesn't it? A lot more people seem to be on blogger or wordpress.com, and there's less of a community feel in general.

Those services are much nicer for posting and blog aesthetics, but LJ is the place to be for reading, even as empty as it is.

I can't stand blogger's aesthetics.

I'm trying to get a regular posting schedule going again, and am doing that on my self-hosted blog and crossposting to LJ. But most of the comments are still here.

When Vox closed up, I poked Dreamwidth, Wordpress and blogger. I hated Dreamwidth because it was too much like LJ, which is fine for reading, but only because it's familiar and this is where my history and community are. No way I want to start a new LJ style blog somewhere else. Bleh.

As for WP and blogger, I was too lazy to do more than poke. Some day I may decide I really want to blog again, and I'll have to find some place public since I'm keeping my LJ friend-only.
