Except that the premise is flawed. The problem with the economy right now is that, for many things, *demand* is down. Which means that business isn't so much moving on to a competitor as it is drying up and staying home. Which means the people who lose their jobs won't likely get a new job unless (until) consumers realize they don't have to be quite as frugal as they're being right now. Even though they should dial their spending back a little bit from "drunken sailor" levels.

The other problem is most of these companies are acting irresponsible with their funds to begin with. So in a way the corporations themselves are guilty of "drunken sailor" levels of spending on nowhere ventures. Their idea of the future is tomorrow rather than 5, 10, 20 and so on years down the road. They've destroyed their own market. One America and the world doesn't really need to operate to begin with but, what it has become accustomed to.

Damn, I'm going off on a tangent again...
