Awoken into a world behind glass... )

open tag for j-cells, cloud, shelke?, hojo, lucrecia?, open tag for anyone who might be nearby

Cloud was with Fenrir when the mental call bludgeoned through.

You think you've won. Simple to forget. You will regret ever daring...

This time, however, his vision did not blank, and he kept his balance. It was a good measure of just how weakened Sephiroth had become. It perhaps provided less of an indication of how far Cloud had come, but if the scales were unbalanced in his favour, Cloud was hardly going to complain.

I don't regret anything, he returned. Only that you're still here.

He could feel the wave of anger Sephiroth was directing at him. He ignored it.

You know as well as I do, Cloud. The Planet itself can't contain me...so foolish your wish that I wasn't here.

[Anger pulsed with every word, every syllable.]

No matter if you don't co-operate, soon you will have no choice. You should never have betrayed me

Sharp rage tore through Cloud for a moment at Sephiroth's hypocrisy. He thought of Nibelheim, and Zack. And Aeris. Though, by that time, there had been nothing left to betray, except the sanctity of life.

Aeris had not been a soldier. She'd been an innocent.

He calmed down, mouth thinning.

Betrayal implies there was loyalty to begin with. I have no loyalty to you.

[Anger boiled over into amusement at Cloud, Sephiroth easily projected said low chuckling towards Cloud's mind. So easy even now, at this distance, for him to guess if not be able to read directly the thoughts which had sparked that reaction. Perhaps this wasn't all as lost as Cloud's first reaction foretold, thats right, he just needed to be reminded.]

[The laugher rang a notch louder and then settled back into mindspeak. Sephiroth counted all of ShinRa, if not the entire human race as the traitors who needed to be punished, but there would always be those who could be used for a purpose. Had Sephiroth had more energy to rehash memory into someone else's mind with, he'd have provided the perfect visions of Cloud's loyalty. The Temple of the Ancients, The Northern Cave, for just two examples.]

You forget too easily Cloud. You were perhaps the most loyal, you came when I wanted you to. You delivered.

And you will do the same again

The projection of Shelke was shuffling through data, then scenery began to faintly flicker with zero and ones. She paid no attention to it at first, but it increased intensely to a reoccurring static. White noise enveloped the area screen as she began to hear a scratchy voice.

"Contain"..
...Who are you?

Did he hear something? He wasn't sure but it certainly didn't feel like a response returned telepathically would feel. It felt more remote, more detached.

Did someone just ask who he was? Sephiroth turned his attention to try to find out where this static-y voice in his head had come from. It burned around his temples, almost as if, no it couldn't be coming through the sensors taped to his head? These three words and their own had to have some connection to him metaphysically but it didn't feel concrete enough. Curious in itself.

"Is someone there?"

She turned over all the possibilities of what this voice could be in her mind; a remote interference, fragmented data, a hacker like herself. It would be a bad idea to stick around if someone was in the network with her. Despite her quick attempts to disconnect it was no use, Her physical body felt heavy and useless. Instead she was hailed with screens of flashing data, things that flickered on and off which looked to resemble activity monitors and containment data; Most of it was unreadable.

Yes. It seems that I am a captive audience for the moment. However, From the looks of these charts as well as your sheer sound of malice, you seem to be captive as well.

"I'm certainly not going anywhere just yet"

He heard her that time because he was listening for the response. Once more the thought passed his mind that he was only captive within his own mind and muscles were tensed to test his theory. He had control indeed but he was stuck. He wondered exactly how she'd managed to ascertain that, unless she was in the room he was in. Looking at him without his knowledge

"So how did you reach that conclusion?"

Time. Time was an utter bitch, ruthless and cruel. She'd go slow, taking her time as the seconds felt like minutes, minutes like hours, and hours like eternity. Then she'd go fast, making the passing of events an utter blurr where no distinct details could be recalled. And time was of the essence. She had fifteen, twenty minutes, before somebody would come looking for her. It had to be a quick visit ( ... )

Hojo winced, and woke. Late afternoon streamed through the window of the infirmary.

The pain in his head was enough to distract him from the pain in his body. Heaviness... claustrophobia... isolation... anger. He was reading the Silver General's thougts - or at least what the man chose to reveal. Through the ache at his temples, Hojo laughed. Utilising Jenova's cells... Ah, Sephiroth did put up such a fight.

Rage all you want - you are contained regardless. Hojo's answer was lazy. Let arrogance match arrogance. When you let go of that ego of yours, boy, we can talk more earnestly about your options.

It was easy to identify Hojo from the reply, after all this was by far their first communique through Jenova cells. So many sins this man had committed. He, if anyone, was more than likely responsible for Mother's disappearance, not to mention Amaya...where had their sister gone? And to top the cake with a cherry it was apparent that this whole plot which had now lead to Sephiroth's containment was hatched by the very same voice in his head.

Unforgivable.

As for the professors comments which had been heard in the theatre, well Sephiroth was sure he'd managed to express his thoughts on the matter clearly. Perhaps not, Hojo was indeed still scraping after the greatness of his predecessors.

And so the Ego talks. You who would dare to state that you have control, that mutters obscenities in my ear...

Your resistance was admirable, but you underestimate me. Hojo lay back and closed his eyes. This form of communication was easier than speech - too easy, and too loose. One dip in concentration and he could reveal much more than he intended to. Always looking down on me, Sephiroth. I'm starting to learn from my mistakes, when will you learn from yours?

Because they had both suffered from so many fatal errors, like father like son.

You would be dead now, if not for me. And all I ask in return is a little cooperation. It's not too difficult, is it, boy? To let go of that pride for a second, for your own damn good? You are powerful, but you lack guidance. This is the result of letting her voice overtake you and lead you astray.

Accept me, and you can be powerful again.

Otherwise, rot in your mako tomb, because I, as always, have no interest in failures.

Familiar white-hot, scorching anger whipped it's way down their unbreakable bond. That bond which Hojo had put there himself, Sephiroth was fully aware he'd made Hojo feel his wrath once before but with his own energy levels so sedated who's to know what effect it would cause this time.

Don't you dare talk about Mother that way. Why couldn't you just leave us alone, you made her go away over some notion that your guidance would do me more favors...when will you admit that you are wrong?

When Mother returns she'll provide all the guidance we need to be elated to our true potential...as for leaving me here, well-

- I've got all the time in the world. You must be glad you got your specimen back...

[Connection cut]

[ooc: you've got a lot of convincing to do Crimy!]
