During a phone call to one of the many repairmen lately, I was asked for my name. They got my last name ok, but she kept asking me to respell my first name. I'm like - it's LAUREN. She asked me to repeat it a few times. L-A-U-R-E-N. She said - how do you say it? I say "LAURen" (kinda sounds like CAR-in). She says "OOOH! Lauren!" (like "

I am from the S'th (have you listened to Mitch Hedburg? if not, that will not make any sense) as you know, so I pronounce it "Loren" but "LAURen" would not throw me off at all. I tend to say more things like a Midwesterner, but obvs not your name. For example I say "ayg" and "layg" instead of "egg" and "leg."
