This is so sensual and just a touch bittersweet (for me anyway). And I've noticed that we're definitely not the only ones with a thing for food porn.

Well .... reading your comments, and blissy's below ... man, I was hoping for more fluff and less bittersweetness. But it's there, I can't deny it.

I had two overwhelming/conflicting internal goals for this story: a moment in Godric's head where he is entirely in love with Eric, with all of Eric's strengths and weaknesses; and at the same time, an acknowledgment that there are losses, things they miss and will never have. Which feels terribly ... human to me.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be a downer! Please see my message to gruochrua just above. I had this weird writerly itch I'm trying to scratch with them, and I don't think I got the balance right in this story. I was trying to convey both their playfulness, and their love (and silliness) in the moment, along with a quiet, indirect acknowledgment that there are things they can't have -- things Godric can't give Eric and vice versa, no matter how much they'd like to. And that' s me dragging my own human baggage into the story.

I apparently failed at being deep (though I see what you're all getting at here) because I was simply amused. And turned on, but that's a whole other issue.

Oh, I'm so happy!!! I didn't want/mean to be angsty with this one. I admit that, just for grins, I'm fiddling around with trying to write a couple of fics that have sex in them but it's really indirectly expressed, because that (in its own way) is hot.

Amused and turned on? Yay!

I am having a (mini) experiment in writing around the sex in a non-explicit fashion. And I thought it was hot too.
