I think I've read the part in the hotel where things go from sexy-fun to something's-not-quite-right about ten times. It has, for me, this very bizarre, unsettling feel that I can't quite put my finger on. When Godric tells Carsten he can't go, and a bit later, when he's smiling, and everything that follows...what a scary little darling he is, so calm and polite and ruthless. I love how you capture that.

I thought I'd spare you from beta-ing for once, so you could read this fic fresh, in all its cracked-out glory. I have strange, powerful love for this one, I'll be honest. As moonlover says below, it's quite off, somehow... from "I want a pony" and the indoor sunrise humor to Godric's overshare and "Godric is not cruel..." Uh, sure, Godric. If you say so. Writing this thing was like an extended fever-dream.

I did wonder if I'd made it too odd or dire, so I did contemplate sending it to you, but decided, wth. Were you being unsettled in a satisfying way, or was it just ... unsettling? I never forget that Carsten's in a bit over his head ("you can't stop me!" lol) And I can't decide which is worse: Eric's cluelessness or Godric's twisted love.

Writer to writer - overall, did this rollercoaster work? Was it a fun, thrilling ride, or did the ups and downs leave you with that vomit-y feeling?

Fever-dream is a good way to describe it. It has this surreal quality, where things are "normal" but ever so slightly off, which works perfectly with these characters and this scenario, if you think about it. I love your Eric/Carsten/Godric stories because they are damn sexy and sometimes sweet, but I like to be reminded every now and again that there's an element of danger and it's very near to home. In particular, I feel like anytime Godric is involved things have the potential to get off-kilter because, well, he's a bit off-kilter himself, bless his little unbeating heart.

It's funny that you should say "vomit-y feeling," because I did have a very visceral, gut reaction to this. Not sickness exactly, but like being punched and your not sure where the blow came from. But a good punch (lol, just trust me on this). This may be the masochist in me speaking, but I enjoy reading stories that make me want to vomit (or cry, or laugh, or rage). So, I think this did work, and quite well.

Godric is a little off-kilter, isn't he? Sorry I gave you that vomity feeling, although it sounds like you were just fine with it. Are you sure it's the masochist in you and not the sadist? ;-)

That was really enjoyable, and yet I think to myself, it shouldn't be because its quite 'off' somehow. Then I think, maybe thats a realisation that Carstens going to come to as well :)

It's a pretty "off" story, but fun in its own way, yeah? Carsten should theoretically know better than to get mixed up with these two, but he can't help himself.

I absolutely adore this!

"Why are you doing this?" Could it be that Godric is unconsciously punishing him because he goes through such pains (staying alive, killing two factions of vampires, etc, etc...) only to assure that he has all the things he loves and Eric doesn't even know it, much less appreciate said things?? ("I'll get you a fucking pony" and everything that follows). I would be pretty pissed too.

And their dynamics are so complicated, like a vicious circle.

I loooove what you do with G/E's relationship, their love shines through all this mess in a very fucked up way :)

Just so you know, I've read this fic three times already and I'm fascinated with it <3, you've hit all my kinks which are plenty, haha

On a silly note, this part makes me giggle every time I read it "Godric kisses him on the mouth, kisses the boy on the forehead, slides his sandals on and leaves"--the sandals part I mean, oh how I loathe them XD

I can't believe there are THREE additional fics waiting for me, I should abandon my lj more often :D

lol there you are. Glad to have you back. Did you read the other stories? The two Carstens before this one are pretty sweet, but the church-fic is all kinds of wrong.

I'm glad I hit your kinks. I can definitely think of a couple in here that would work for you. Yeah, those SANDALS -- it's hard for me to write about Godric without mentioning his gay-Jesus outfits and those hideous man-sandals. But who can tell Godric to update his look? Not me, for sure.

You hit on an excellent reason for Godric punishing Eric. Godric has to stay around for Eric, and Eric's both clueless and in love with someone else. Also, between the two of us, Godric was angry at Eric for hurting Carsten in bed. Now, it's okay for Godric to beat the crap out of Eric, but not for Eric to hurt their new plaything.

Here I am again, salivating over Godric!

I guess it's me not believing he would actually care about Carsten, I mean he's this creature who sees after humans, but only as a self-created sense of moral obligation and nothing else, you've hinted everywhere that he has a soft spot for Carsten, which is both sweet and odd, OMGodric!.

He's is so daft and scary and you captured this really well in this installment, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I *cough* enjoyed his sadistic side with Eric, and Godric's double moral standards

I haven't read your other stories yet, but I think I'm gonna start with the church fic, ok? (so predictable)

Ah, yes, grasshopper, but remember -- their feelings are all mixed up now. So he feels Eric's feelings for Carsten, PLUS Carsten's feelings of anguish this evening over how Eric hurt him and didn't care. Plus his own connection to Carsten now... it's all beautifully twisted. Especially the way he shows Eric his love :cough:

well, well, well, isn't this story a great reminder not to fancy Godric too much... XD

"Eric knows a lot about horses," Godric chimes in.

O rly Godric? Tell me more... LMAO

One of the great things about your stories is that they go around in my head for a really long time afterwards. Since everything is so well thought out I like to ponder over little details like When he [Eric] returns from the bathroom, nobody's moved.

By the way, have you seen the first picture of Godric/Eric in season 4? :D

I had not seen it and I just gave you credit in my journal, you made my night... I went off to watch the video, now I want to write a caption and some dialogue. Thanks very much.

Eric and his horses -- frankly, the whole "I want a pony" part of this fic makes me laugh. Can't you see these two rolling little Carsten around in bed?

I have never commented on like, anything before, especially since I feel weird commenting on something so far into it, but I couldn't help myself, I love this so much!

I can't wait to see more!
