Dependency

Author’s Notes: Um. Yeah. Adrian. I don’t know where this came from. Well… that’s a lie. I kinda know where this came from. My friends and I were discussing how Adrian’s plan is actually really obvious if you think about it. And them bam. So yeah. Weird.

Adrian is an interesting character, I'd say as far as intrinsic morality goes, he is the most debatable of the bunch. I think Adrian, above all the rest of the cast, can be interpreted very differently by fanfiction writers and still come off IC. This was a rather sympathetic portrayal of him, and a bit weaker than I imagine him, but I don't think that I would say this fic is unsuccessful, or that he seems terribly OOC. The place that I think differed the most in regard to my own opinion of adrian is in his outlook on Rorschach here, I don't know that I imagine him ever giving Ror that much credit or respect. but as I said earlier Adrian is very enigmatic. I loved the stuff with Bubsy, I think her death did probably somehow hurt him more than all those people. I also really liked that you took a stab at explaining away all the REALLY DAMN OBVIOUS Veidt stuff. i.e. Ramses II password, pyramid corp. lulz yeah, honestly, was he trying to get caught? Or was 'ol mr. moore just lazy there. All and all I like your first Adrian fic, and I ( ... )

I want to clarify, that when I said 'weaker' I mean Adrian himself being a bit weaker spirited person than how I picture him, not that the way you wrote him was weak. I re-read that review and was all "gahhhh! that sounded mean!" lol

It's a really interesting take on Adrian, and challenging to pull off. I'm grappling with how conscious Adrian would have been of these motives, but I think it works, because you've succeeded in making this plausible through weaving in the password, pyramid and other things that seemed like poor choices for a supposed genius. I'd probably need to reread the GN again to review the movie representation of his attitude to Rorschach to comment on that aspect (I remember he was dismissive in the former as well, but the fic does indicate this might have been a smokescreen).

And Tales of the Black Freighter used so well here :)

And because of this...

Wow. Sorry for the super-ultra late reply. My email has decided that notifying me about everyone's response is for losers. (it's happened before, maybe just for this post? Hm.) :/ Anyways, thank you for the review! I'm glad you think it works, it's certainly very different than how I normally view Adrian, so it was really weird. I mostly wanted to point out that he made really obvious pointers for being such a genius. Because that frustrated me when I was reading it for the second time. I was like "you know, this is actually really obvious. And these characters have known Adrian for like 20 years. What the heck?" So yeah. In short, THANK YOU. XD

I KNOW, I WANT THE ULTIMATE CUT TOO. >:( I guess I'll just have to buy it myself. *sighs*

Amazing. I've always wanted to do a fic where Adrian became obsessed with Rorschach after his death, like putting the puzzle together and the thing doesn't fit, damn it, that or a crack fic where Adrian pretended to believe his mask killer theory to keep close tabs on him and Rorschach was like "um" but went along to see what he was about and Adrian's kitchen has to be more fun to ride, right? only because those two would be so interesting in the same room together.

hahaha, thank you so much for your feedback! I confess, I do really like those two in their hate-hate relationship because they're on two separate ends of the spectrum. their backgrounds are different, their viewpoints are different. Hell, they're even opposite in looks: one's super pretty and one's really really fug. XD It's really fun. Also, I think Adrian would definitely have this morbid fascination thing going on.

But this crack fic you speak of sounds hilarious. Link please? XD
