I'm going to be posting this to
justpopemotion soon, but I thought I'd let you guys see it first.
A CD I made for Jennifer and myself last year, revamped a bit and made purtier. Now available for mass consumption!
Various songs dealing with... you guys guessed it. Pirates.
1.
The Aquabats- Captain Hampton and the Midget PiratesYoung Jim, as a lad, he looked for adventure
Calamity, danger, whatever was free
So when he turned ten, he packed his belongings
And he left home to find his destiny
It’s one of those classic ‘Boy goes off on an adventure’ stories but turned on it’s head and covered in crack.
2.
Eric Cartman- Come Sail Away Come sail away
Come sail away
Come sail away with me
(you guys seriously)
Okay, so this song has no mention of pirates. But it is about sailing. And it is hilarious. I was a bit conflicted about whether or not to put this up, but I decided for it because you can’t say no to Cartman.
3.
Toybox- Sailor Song Sailing, sailing, jumping off the railing
Drinking, drinking, 'till the ship is sinking
Gambling, stealing, lots of sex-appealing
Come, let us sing the sailor-song
Pirate-themed technopop. Need I say more?
4.
The Vandals- Pirate’s Life High adventure on the sea, but it's not the life for me
Now those hairy tattooed pirates are all chasing after me
I was threatened with a knife by a pirate playing fife
Now I'm sailing for my life thanks to LSD 2-5
This is one of my most favorite songs ever. What happens when you take drugs and then go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride? Bad shiznit, yo.
5.
Irish Rovers- Drunken SailorWhat will we do with a drunken sailor?
Earl-aye in the mornin’?
One of the most well-known sea shanties in existence. I couldn’t leave this out.
6.
Reliant K- The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything we don't know what he did
but we're down with captain kidd
we don't wake up before lunch
but we all eat captain crunch
we don't smoke, we don't chew
we watch captain kangaroo
Mmm. Pirates of ineptitude.
7.
Poe- Walk the Walk My own drum, my own beat
Not a mention of a pirate in this one. But I always regarded this as a sort of idealistic pirate manifesto. Walking to the beat of your own drum. Plus, on a scale of one to ten? Poe gets a fucking awesome.
8.
Klaus Bedelt- The Medallion Calls The song that plays during one of the best entrances in film history.
9.
Sex Pistols- Friggin In The Riggin ***VULGARITY***
Friggin' in the riggin'
Friggin' in the riggin'
Friggin' in the riggin'
There was fuck all else to do
The dirtiest sea shanty in the history of EVER. Sung by one of the dirtiest bands. And properly so.
10.
Jimmy Buffet- A Pirate Looks At Forty Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
This CD’s token angsty song! There’s almost nothing sadder than missed opportunities. You spend your whole life wondering what could have been.
11.
Y Kant Tori Read- Pirates there is a light that
shines on the frontier
pirates yeah
pirates
Tori Amos of the old-skool, yo. She rocks. So hard. Oh, and the song is pretty awesome as well.
12.
Tim Curry- Professional Pirate (From Muppet’s Treasure Island)
Some say that pirates steal
And should be feared and hated
I say we're victims of bad press: it's all exaggerated
We'd never stab you in the back, we'd never lie or cheat
We're just about the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet!
When marketing your product? Lie. Lie out of your ass
13.
George Harrison- The Pirate Song I've got a Jolly Roger
It's black and white and vast
Get out of your Skull and Crossbones
And I'll run it up your mast
My love of pirates feels so much more valid now that a former Beatle is backing me up.
14.
Pirates of the Caribbean- Pirate’s Life For Me We're rascals, scoundrels, villains, and knaves
Drink up me hearties yo ho
We're devils and black sheep - really bad eggs
Drink up me hearties yo ho
The most classic of pirate songs. Grab a bottle of rum and dance around the fire.
The Zip File: All 14 songs, both images, and the lyrics.
