When I wrote Calendar Girl (or at least, when I started it), the full intent of Evie was a regular person to contrast Lois. Then I asked the question of why she was so reserved and built this character from it. It means the world to me that people loved learning more about her as much as I love writing her. Your analysis of her is so spot-on and, again, I love that.
Friendship is an important theme throughout this story. This is probably the most comfortable I've been with writing Lois, but it's fun having all the dynamics in the group.
You'd be right with the relationship-action balance. I wanted to create a fic with a mission that would tie these people together with callbacks to canon. Things have changed since the original idea I had... but I'm liking my ending the more I tool with it. Here's hoping you do too :)
