Author: serafina19 Title: Open Hands/Hands Open Summary: Chloe and Oliver discover that peace can be found in the simplest gesture. Rating: PG Timeline: Doomsday-Roulette
Thank you! I admit, this kind of came out of nowhere. I started listening to the Ingrid Michaelson song... and it just sort of grew from there.
You know how much I love that Roulette scene, but this was something I hadn't explored yet, so I was excited to bring something new. As usual, I love your analysis of it, because even though most could write it off as just a little bit of contact, it was more than that... to both of them. A spark, as you say.
As for the Doomsday, I had to track down that scene to get the details right, as my memory was a bit hazy. I loved the idea of him reaching back to her after what happened that day, so it got a bit of a shout out.
And no problem on the mention. Credit where credit's due, right? *hugs*
Sera sorry to hear about your struggle these past months. I hope things get better soon. You always make me have the greatest Chlollie feels with your writing for them. Even here they know each other so well regardless of not being around one another for along time. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! It's a slow and steady process, but things are looking up, and have been during the last few weeks. I'm just glad that I can write Chlollie again, and that I have people like you who can lift my spirits with your feedback. Again, thanks :)
I really loved this - the whole meditation on her hands and what they'd been through, the call back to Chloe stopping Oliver from grabbing Davis in Doomsday, the image of Chloe taking her wedding ring off, Chloe realizing how much it meant to her that someone wanted to hold her hand.
You have a really amazing way of presenting a character's internal monologue and thought process. I just love it. And it's never heavy handed. It never feels forced or false. And then on top of that, you reacquainted us with Chlollie scenes we can all recite by heart and brought out something new, some fresh perspective. I love Oliver realizing that "it took one to spot one" as he's facing Chloe and really looking at her with fresh eyes.
I am thankful that you are still giving us Chlollie stories. I can't say that enough.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the concept too, because it was a neat one to explore, especially during this timeline.
I can't even tell you the last time I wrote something brand new for Chlollie (my last few fics were abandoned ideas that I expanded on), so it felt great to give something new to one of my favourite scenes. The fact that my writing hasn't lost its touch is great to know and I appreciate every word of your feedback.
