Geisha in NYC for the Travel Show

Mar 03, 2006 19:06

I happened, by some extreme stroke of luck, to hear that some Geisha were going to be in NYC for the Travel Show this past weekend. Not being able to pass up the chance of seeing them, I asked my sister (who was visiting me at the time) if she minded making a quick trip to NYC to meet the Geisha. Thankfully she didn’t need any convincing. ;P

All I can say is WOW! I would be exactly like you! I would have cried at the dance and I would have been giddy! I don't think it's creepy to stand around with them all day! I would have. Even though your sister would tease you, I think she thinks it's all pretty cool too! Who cares? What an experience you'll always cherish. How many people get to have this opportunity? Not many!

I can't wait til it's my turn to do all of this in May. I look forward to meeting Peter as well. I'm so glad I've taken the plunge and stayed in the castle with all of them.

Hahaha, well, I have to say I'd be embarassed to cry in front of my sister. ;P She's a BIG fan of Japanese culture like myself, so she had a really good time too. She just doesn't appreciate geisha like I do.

All I can say is I feel SO VERY LUCKY! O____O

Peter MacIntosh mentioned his trip to England in May when I talked to him. Said he just got his flight reservations all squared away and is really excited about it. I'm wondering if he's bringing the same geiko and two maiko with him?
Hmmm.....

Please be sure to take lots and lots of pics when you go! I can't wait to see/hear the exciting stories you'll bring back with you!! I'm so glad you're going!

You are so lucky, Sera-chan! I wish I could have experienced the same. I'm so happy you wrote this up so that we who live too far away could enjoy it! Thank you so much!

Wow, lovely photos! The maiko look so cute, and I love the shishu eri (embroidered collars). Good move, introducting yourself to Peter. He's a very friendly guy. If you ever look lost in Gion, he'll talk to you. He loves talking to foreigners.

I'm very jealous! Thank you so much for sharing. ^-^

PS. I'm IG's Iyolin. Friended you, hope you don't mind.
