It’s still snowing outside. Akihiko was looking outside from his room window, and smiled bitterly to himself. Unconciously, he trailed his finger against the glass surface and wrote down his lover’s name. Aragaki Shinjirou. He caressed the kanji slowly and close his eyes, imagining that Shinji was standing beside him right now, their hand linked against each other while watching the snow falling.
When he opened his eyes again, the only thing he see was his own reflection on the window. He clucked loudly and told himself that he was stupid for thinking something stupid like that. Shinji must be laughing at him right now if he knows about that. He moved to his desk and opened his drawer. He took out a small, wooden box and opened it. Inside there was a silver ring he got from Shinji’s room after his death. Minato passed it to him after they tidy up his room. He said he found it on the window stall, and there are a short letter that was written for him.
He haven’t open the letter until now, because he afraid that he will have an emotional break down once he read it. He still keep it safely next to the wooden box, inside his personal drawer. He decided that he was ready to read it now. He took a deep breath before he took the letter and peeled the envelope. It was written by Shinji himself, he could tell it when he saw the messy handwriting inside.
‘Aki, I leave this letter for you because I already sense my own death is approaching. No, I don’t want you to weep for me. I want you to be strong and keep walking in the path you believe. I give a ring for you because I’m know you are such a cry baby, so think of this as a charm from me.’
Aki couldn’t help but laugh when he finished reading the letter. It was so unlike Shinji to write something like that. He didn’t feel insulted when Shinji call him a cry baby. He admitted that he always cry when he was a child. Shinji is the one who will take care of him until he stopped crying by holding his hand gently, but never once he said a comforting word to him. He would just poke his forehead and told him to be strong after that.
There was a time when he came to Shinji with a bruised lips, telling him proudly that he had managed to hit back the person who bullied him. At that time Shinji was too shock to say anything, before he touched the bruised lightly, making little Akihiko winced in pain. The taller boy just sighed at that before he patted his head.
“Let’s go home, we need to treat you wound. Mattaku Aki, don’t make me worried by getting into trouble like that.”
“Because he insult you Shinji. He is badmouthing you.” Aki pouted cutely
“….baka” he said in a small voice, but he ruffled his hair afterward.
He took out the ring, and found that Shinji had given him a silver chain for him as well. He put the ring inside the chain and wear it as a necklace. Looks like Shinji knew that he couldn’t wear a ring because he was doing boxing. He fold the letter back and put them back into his drawer. He stood and held the ring close to his chest., before he gave a light kiss to the gift.
He smiled again when he see his own reflection on the mirror. He looked like a complete idiot. He was smiling and crying at the same time, and he didn’t even realized it until something hot fell from his cheek. He wiped his tears quickly with the back of his hand , Shinji wouldn’t like to see him crying over and over again.
“Sanada-senpai, is time to go!” Yukari’s voice could be heard from downstairs.
“I’m coming! Just give me another minute!” he replied quickly.
He checked his appearance once more before he grabbed his jacket from the hanger and put it on his shoulder like he usually do. He smiled and before he closed the door, he whispered to himself.
“I’m going Shinji. I’ll do my best so that you won’t be disappointed with me”
