He yawned tiredly when he looked at his alarm clock. Almost morning, but he still couldn’t bring himself to sleep. It’s been a week since the wedding ceremony, but it seemed like yesterday for him. He sighed and closed his eyes, hoping that it would help him to sleep, but every time he closed his eyes, he would always see her in the white dress.
She looked beautiful in her white wedding gown, with the crown of white roses on top of her head. Everything looked perfect from outside. Yet something was out of place. He wonder if the others notice, but she wasn’t smiling, not even once, on that important day of her life. Somehow, he knew that he was the cause of her sadness.
He already let her go. He knew it was for the best. He didn’t want to ruin her entire life. They weren’t meant to be together. He understand that, life is painful, and reality was even worse. His chest tightened when he remember their last meeting. The memories itself was too painful to bear alone, but he had to. He hope someday he will able to look at the past and cherished all the memories he share with her. But for now, he wasn’t strong enough to do that.
He forced himself to get up from the bed and went to the kitchen to take some water from the fridge. This is wrong. He should stop this nonsense. She wouldn’t be happy to see him like this. He also hate himself for this. But how? What should he do to make the pain gone? He could no longer life behind his mask, not anymore because she wasn’t there for him anymore.
‘I understand. Then this will be our last meeting. I really wish for your happiness.’
Those were his last words to her before he kissed her for the last time. He could feel that she was crying. He also wanted to scream at that time, why it must end like this? But instead he forced himself to smile and pulled her into a hug.
He couldn’t ask her to stay. She wouldn’t be happy with him. The other man is more suitable for her. He is 14 years older than her. He didn’t really care with the age gaps, but apparently her parents do. He was rejected from the beginning, because of the age gaps and his job. They want someone who can support the whole family business thing.
He returned to his room, and noticed that he had let his laptop on all the time. He smiled bitterly when he looked at the screen and found his lover smiling at him. He must change his desktop wallpaper. She wasn’t his anymore. He clicked on his on going novel’s file, and began to reread it slowly. The book was supposed to be their love life. All the bitter sweet of their relationship was there, and what’s left is the ending.
He wanted to give a better ending for them, he wanted to create a different world when they would still be together, but he just couldn’t bring himself to do that. It just like giving him a false hope. He never actually realised that he had began to type everything that he wanted to say to her. It was night already when he had finished the novel, and for some unknown reason, he felt a little bit better than before.
It was a few weeks later when the girl he loves found a book with a blank cover on her mailbox. She found that a letter was slipped inside the book, and opened it nervously.
‘ I leave a few blank pages behind. It is for you to create a better ending. I’m happy for you, and I just want you to know that my heart will always belongs to you.’
