OUAT discussion/theories: The Return and later

Apr 23, 2012 18:57

So, we covered a lot of the basic discussion in the chat, but I decided to put together my major theories and point out the logic I used, or something. There are two: one about Rumple's plan, and one about the Pinocchio theory. Also, I started writing it last night and added some things today after watching the first four episodes again, so some ( Read more... )

Occam's Razor: what August appears to believe, and what I will therefore assume unless the show says otherwise, is that he started to turn back into wood the instant Emma chose to stay in Storybrooke without having had any guidance from him. It has nothing to do with the curse and the presence or absense of magic. It could have, in theory, happened at any time in our world regardless of whatever was happening in Storybrooke. It happened at that time because that was the moment he actually failed. It was tied to breaking his promise rather than the hundreds of little 'bad' things he was doing in his life, because breaking his promise meant more to him. He thinks that magic will fix it, not because the absense of magic is causing him to revert, but because magic is what caused it, magic is what made him real in the first place, and magic in Fairy Tale Land was the universal fix-it. ...aaaaaaand I just remembered/realized. The bit where Charming feels Snow's pain or whatever? I bet that is an effect of Rumple combining their hair for his bottled true love/DNA/curse-saviour-making thingy. It makes much better sense than that happening just because they're True Loves.

I would like to flesh out this idea, but it's 12:39 and I should go to bed.
