Today was made of WIN!!
I got to go shopping with a friend! *skids around giddily*
Well, getting up wasn't fun, I had to get up at 8:30am in order to be there on time. But then again, I don't like being up before 10-11am on any day of the week, let alone a weekend! XD As it was I didn't manage to yank myself out of bed until 9am anyway, though I still made it on time.
I got there and discovered one of my friends had had to cancel, her workshop/class thingy had turned out to be at 12, rather then 2pm. This actually worked out well though, because Toni is a bibliophile like me, and Ruth would have probably been driven bonkers by the amount of time we ended up spending in book shops. XD
We met at 10:30, but most of the shops hadn't opened yet, so we decided to go to a coffee shop and have a drink and a chat while we waited. So we both had a latte and chatted, and though the stores opened at 11am, we got so caught up in our discussion we didn't get up and leave till about 11:30! XD
We headed to Clairs Accessories first, I wanted to buy some more clip in electric blue hair pieces, because my friends had all commented the ones I had looked really good on me, but we ended up browsing in there for about half an hour. We played around with the sunglasses, and Toni eventually bought a pair and some jewellry. I walked out with; a flower hair band, a hair tie with beads and stuff, another set of the blue hair clips, and a new purse, which I have needed for ages now (seriously, my old one is falling apart).
(Note to self: must draw Toni dragonz picture she asked for)
After that, we headed straight for the target of the entire trip. THORNTONS.
DISCOUNTED VALENTINES CHOCOLATE!
XD
We bought our fill (I was mildly annoyed they'd stopped selling heart shaped chocolate lollypops-they were really nice) and then went to HMV. We spent ages browsing the DVDs, Toni even asked me to recommend some anime to her. I ended up buying several £5-8 DVD's. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the 2007 movie, Excalibur Kid (I am a sucker for anything related to King Arthur) and two Disney DVD's, so I can have my Disney V-day marathon, albiet a day late. I got Disney's Atlantis 2 (the sequal to Atlantis, obviously), and Disney Princess Enchanted Tales (I bought this purely for the fact Jasmine is in it, and I love Jasmine and Mulan). I tried to get the Narnia soundtrack, but they don't sell it at HMV! *shock, horror!*
(Second note to self, look up "Bakugan" the DVD looked interesting)
After that we headed to Waterstones, and, both being bibliophiles, spent a happy time reading. I pointed out some of my fav. books to Toni, and then we both spotted a book we liked the look of, called "Dragon Orb: Firestorm" (A book about sentient Dragons and their riders? Who save the world? How could I NOT buy it?) but they only had one copy in the store! *lol, Drama!*
Toni bought some other manga, and we decided to go to Borders to see if we could get a copy each there.
We headed over and found that, yes! There were copies for both of us there! (Signed copies too! The author was in Oxford not that long ago apparently). So we both bought a copy of "Dragon Orb: Firestorm" (written by Mark Robson, if anyones interested) and I also picked up the latest Anime NEO magazine, Yu-Gi-Oh! Millennium World Volume 4, and a new manga called Strawberry Marshmallow, which I read a review on saying it was very sweet and fluffy, just what I need right now!
And, guess what? As I was going to the counter to pay, what did I spot?
The heart shaped chocolate lollypops I couldn't get in Thorntons! They were still selling them there! So I bought two. XD
By that time it was about 2pm so we decided to get some lunch, we wandered around for a while before settling on a place to eat, I had a very yummy Crayfish and rocket sandwitch.
After eating we went to (yet another) book store! We went to Blackwells this time, and again spent AGES browsing, before I caved and bought the recently released second book in the Dragon Orb series "Shadow"
Yes, I know it's bad to buy a sequal before you've read the previous book, but dammit I'd read half the first book in the store and loved it and the second looked just as good!
We headed into a museum next for a change of pace. It was a museum to science, with lots of old microscopes, chemistry equipment, globes, compases, and teloscopes! It was actually quite interesting, especially James the 3rd microscope, which looked more like a beautiful statue then anything else!
After the museum we leaded back into town, I introduced Toni to Pia, the jewelry store, and we went into Whittards as well. I nearly hugged Toni as I realised she loves all the same stores I do! Finally, someone to go book shopping with!
It was getting dark and the stores were closing by then, so we said goodbye and hoped on our respective buses. We'd been in town for about 5 hours!
All in all I had a wonderful day, and I'm going to start reading my books as soon as I post this entry!
*runs of to read*
