I know that it's been a long time since I've posted anything in this journal. I've honestly figured that no one really cares about the mundane things that go on in my life, and truthfully, there hasn't been anything that's truly eventful going on. There's just been something that's been happening, and it's weighing heavily on my heart, so I feel

Hey Jean! Long time, little see! And please, no need to apologize for writing here. If anything, I encourage it.

At any rate, I think everything you can do is spelled out in your rant. The animal doesn't belong to you, so ultimately the decisions that need to be made? Not yours. At all.

You also know you can't reason with the pet's owners, who feel that the cat is perfectly safe outdoors, either through ignorance of the situation or through ignorance of what a domesticated cat is capable of.

This leaves two very solid options. Either you defer to their ownership, helping the cat as you can? Or contact animal control, and have them do something about it (which they may, or may not, depending.)

Yeah. I know that those are my only two options. I wish that there was a third option where they would realize they're being complete morons and start actually taking care of the cat. That's not going to happen, though. =/
