Got fired, desperately trying to find a new job, phone doesn't work at the moment because I'm so damn broke and I'm feeling pretty low.

Long story - a combination of justifiable cause and total bullshit. Much more of the latter, if you ask me.
Tell your sister if she gets a call from any of the people that I've interviewed with that I've used her as a reference and to PLEASE gush. Tell them how amazing and spectacular I am and I'll buy her a *LOT* of drinks.
