Oh summer how I love thee! I took my final final on Friday, and it was followed by a good game of Baseball in Detroit....followed by fireworks. It was a great day....followed by another great day at Josh's pool followed by some Sex and the City followed by a Powerhour with Phil and Tuba, Holla and Jamie face, Elliot and Mary and me. I am sure ( Read more... )

She Lives!

Glad to see that everything is going so well for you!

RE: new boy

Seeing as you have no brothers -- even though your sisters are pretty hard core -- I will offer my services for the shovel talk. :-D

I'm a bit surprised that you've never read the Diary of Anne Frank. I read it in fourth grade.

As for suggestions...

Not knowing what you've already read, here's the suggestions:
Anything by Douglas Adams
Anything by Terry Pratchett

yayayay i'm glad you're so happy!
(i still get a little jealous though - like lookin at your tigers game pictures! so fun!!)

anyway i just went to kepler's (this really cool independent bookstore) like two days ago and totally by mistake ended up buying like 6 books, so i will get back to you on the books thing!

but now that i think about it... i might have a few you should read

-feast of love by charles baxter (i'm 99% sure you read this already but i can't discuss books without mentioning it. plus, it's always good for a second-time. or a third... or fourth... or fifteenth...)
-the moon and sixpence by w. somerset maugham (i originally read this for high school english but it's still one of my favorite books ever)
-the time traveler's wife by audrey niffenegger (the premise might sound a little weird at first but it is seriously an amazing book. the characters are fabulous. it's able to be about love without being all sappy and lame. and! claire, a main character, grew up on the west coast of MI! just like youuuu)

last summer was great.
hey remember when we had a sleepover in my bed?!
haha when was that? might not have been summer, but whatever, close enough.

and yes you should give feast of love another try. if i can read it 15 times, you can read it once :D

i think you would like the moon and sixpence, too. so many books, so little time!

yay for fun sun summertimes :)

i'll call you if i'll be in town this week for any of the top of the park thingys.

also, i would recommend reading "east of eden" instead of "grapes of wrath" (both by steinbeck), unless you've read it already. they are both "classics" but i really enjoyed east of eden a lot more... i forced myself to read 75% of grapes of wrath and finally gave up.

i have "memoirs of a geisha" if you want to borrow it. loved loved loved it.

"the way down" (i think that's what it's called???) by nick hornby is enjoyable and short.

"the kite runner" by i don't know. fairly popular book that leaves you thinking :)

i'm an engineer, so i probably have no idea what i'm talking about. enjoy your reads, let me know if there are any great books i should check out. love.

wow thank you for being honest. I am glad that I know that now rather than later!!!

I would love to borrow Geisha book! thank you for offering!!!

I have heard Hornby is good....I'll have to check it out!

I thought Kite runner was a really depressing book?!?!? Not that I am closed off to any suggestion that may have depressing plot lines!

shooooot girl! Because you are an engineer I give you more credit.....you know how to read and all!!!! sweet!

ahhhhhhhhhh this post makes me me all of you so muchhhhh.

you have enough novels on your plate, so i would just recommend the poetry of James Welch. I didn't study him on NELP but he's amazing. Any Wallace Stevens poetry will blow your mind, too.

I can't wait to see you in a week or so!!!
