Wow, Ann... I just told my mom that story, and she teared up. She loves you! And I love you, too. I'm glad that the "make good choices" line could do some good.

We were going to, but I didn't feel well enough to go. (It was a two-and-a-half-hour hike.) And yeah, I heard that they are really big, so big that they sometimes roll over and crush their young by accident. (Sad!) And you aren't a nerd! That's really kool that you know about them. And yes! My break is fantabulous.

I know what you mean! It was the only request I made as far as touristy things this trip, and we had a good time. We took the audio tour (if/when you go, do it--otherwise, it'll be really boring), and it was really interesting. They tried to make the recording kinda dramatic, complete with background noise as if you were there when Alcatraz was in use; it was fairly effective, actually. I think the part that got to me the most was that these men could look out the window and have such an amazing view of the free world. That would drive me crazy more than anything else. But yes, it was one of the most interesting things we did here.
