I said, "You're more than a fair-weather friend--you're a true enemy."

Since Easter comes so close to the end of classes for me, my family has decided to come up here to see me instead of my going home. We decided it would be a good idea so that they could drive some of my stuff home and help me store the rest, and I guess a side perk is that they'll get to meet my friends and see how my life here has changed since ( Read more... )

When I was little, I used to view the family the way that Julie seems to: one big happy group, and all the cousins can get together and get along, all the grown-ups can have compelling conversations and laugh and enjoy themselves ( ... )

David, I don't even know how to respond to your comment other than to say you're being... well, to use a euphemism, completely misguided. I appreciate your backing me up in saying that I should take whatever time I want, but the rest of that was pretty much David being David. Take that for what's it's worth.

Sorry, that was harsh. On second reading, I see a little more what you're saying. I just get tired of being told how this family works as if I'm not a part of it and don't understand. (It's not just you.) Plus, I think it's absurd that my dad would have to make extra trips up to please the family considering Julie is literally the only one on the Huetteman side who visits us. Guess that's just a lifetime of bitterness about that coming out, but what can I do. Thanks, sorry again.

I'm not saying it's not absurd - it's all totally absurd. And I would've liked to visit Atlanta if I'd ever had any say. Anyhow, there's nothing rational about it, and I'm not supporting the idea that he should have to appease anyone. If anything, I think it's kind of unfair to Thad.

I was just saying from a practical point of view that maybe that would be a solution. I didn't intend any kind of editorial slant on whether I thought he SHOULD do that, just that it might be useful. I know I didn't make that clear, so I'm sorry for that.

On a side note, what's "David being David?" Bloviating? Know-it-all? Condescending? I'd like to know what my signature move is in your mind.
