What's happened to my party?

I know it seems amazing, but mark this as the first time I've disagreed with a fellow Democrat--well, not really the first time, but still... what were the top 5 grant cities? i mean the CDC and the airport are a big deal, but it's natural to overestimate the importance of one's home state. maybe there are more vulnerable or numberous targets in other cities. besides, terror attacks are highly unlikely. not to defend the democrat, i think the democrats are idiots.

I don't remember the fifth city, but they were like L.A., D.C., New York City, and Newark. I know that I'm reacting mostly because it's Georgia, and I know there are more vulnerable targets. My point was just that he was making an ignorant argument for why funds for his state shouldn't decrease; I know it's his constituency and he has to protect it, but it's just like... yeah, there's nothing but wasteland everywhere but New York. Good attitude. (A very stereotypically New York attitude.) So yeah, I know why he did it, but it just seemed like a stupid statement to me anyway.

Senators seem to have this knee-jerk response in defense of their state, and they'll rip on other states until the cows come home. So while I'd certainly like them to speak nationally and show some party unity, all they'll ever do is speak to their own constituency. Homeland defense spending is probably a jobs bill for a senator, so I imagine he HAS to speak out vehemently against the loss of funds, and hope it appeases people who may now be out of work.

Well, yeah, I know why he did it. It just seemed like a ridiculous statement to me. I mean, it probably doesn't help that Georgia is a red state, but...
