So last Thursday while I was at work, my old Dr. called and as soon as I got on the phone with him he says "Hey Melissa, are you looking for another job? Is everything okay there?" My first instinct was to lie and say no. I was in total shock that he knew. Turned out that the vet's office I sent my resume to somehow got ahold of him on his cell.

I'm wondering if he's being honest about you being a good worker, but giving you a bad reference because he doesn't want you to leave... just a thought?!?!

Yea, I was thinking that too. Its great that he thinks I'm a good worker and wants me to stay but giving me a bad reference is a bad way of going about it.

Also, your comment about the jobs that pay the least are the most fulfilling, from experience, I'd say it was true!
