So I've spent today debating whether or not atheists are more or less fervent in their beliefs than those that believe in religion due to a question a friend of mine asked me today in response to something I asked him (any religion for argument's sake -- not a cult mind you but a religion; and I'll save the religion vs. cult debate for another time ( Read more... )

I don't know that atheists are more or less fervent, I simply consider them to be their own religion, as such. They have a belief and they stick to it, usually with the same passion (or lack thereof, depending on the person) as anyone else of faith. *shrugs*

That's usually what I consider atheists to be as well. The debate came up, like I said, because my friend is writing a novel and his main character is an atheist and that plays into a large portion of the novel. So we were debating doe atheists have to be more fervent in their beliefs than followers of other religions? It's an interesting discussion and I'm enjoying asking various people what they think of it. I can't sadly follow up on tonight as I was foolish and scheduled a dentist appointment today. That was silly of me lol
