Plant diary 2020

May 06, 2020 10:05

On May 4th and 5th, mom and I planted a bunch of stuff in a square-foot-gardening box, and I'm going to start keeping a plant diary here. I'll put them under boredom cut tags. :-)

We have 32 squares in our garden -- 8 across, and 4 deep. The long edge faces north, and I've numbered the boxes, so 1 through 8 have the tall stuff -- tomatoes, peppers, etc. -- and the other stuff is in the rest of the squares. We're saving 2 squares to put artichokes in later.

I have a reminder set for 9, 12, 3, and 6 every day to go water them so they'll stay damp for germination. Sprouts should start soon on some of them. If everything goes well, July should be a pretty good month for produce around here; we'll see.

I have a notebook I'm keeping the nitty-gritty details in; I may share some of those details here, or just make this the narrative place to keep track of what happens. I'm also taking a daily photo on the 3pm watering trip, so hopefully that will be a good reference for later.
