12 What’s your favorite holiday cookie? (Post the recipe?)
Russian tea cakes 13 What is something you’ve done that no one would expect of you?
I have talked about it some, so some people know this, but I was a kleptomaniac and a pathological liar as a child.
14 If 2021 could see you moving to another city, where would you go?
Either Oaklandish or some little town somewhere that has a good cost of living and decent walkable neighborhoods.
15 What’s the best thing to do on a snowy day?
Hot tea, cold window, cheek pressed against (from the inside).
16 Are there any foods you are allergic to?
There's something in some red-colored foods that closes my throat, but I haven't identified the allergen yet; I just play it safe and don't drink Hawaiian punch and stuff like that.
17 What was the biggest change in your life in 2020?
Hard to say whether the virus or my mom's death was bigger. Certainly my mom's death is bigger subjectively.
18 What is your favorite local restaurant where you live? What type of food, atmosphere, and prices does this place have?
We love a place called D'Lish Bistro. It has the best pizza we've found in San Diego (though I'm not a huge fan of pizza), but what I order while James gets his Works pizza is a big plate of their handmade pasta -- gnocchi, fettuccine, whatever. They do a great cioppino on angel hair, and a wild mushroom cream sauce on gnocchi (I think it comes on linguine by default, but I'm a gnocchi girl) that I sometimes dream about. And if you dine in, they bring you hot bread with a pomodoro dipping sauce that I insist on buying by the pint when we get takeout -- it has super garlicky, basily olive oily yumminess.
