Matthew's first pet

After school one day (25 May 07), we took Matt out to Centrepoint and as we walked in from the carpark, we stopped by the pet store. We had a look at the hamsters and took one out for Matt to hold. He didn't quite know how to handle it initially and he kept trying to hold the hamster by the neck. The poor little hamster even squealed at one point ( Read more... )

I like that shot too, of Hammie crossing the river! that's funny! :)Matt definitely looks so comfortable with Hammie!

I'm not a pet person, and I don't think I would be able to handle pets with the kids too, so I marvel at your bravery! The hairs on the back of my arm would stand in anticipation of carrying/holding one. :)

Heh heh, that's where having a helper in the home comes in very handy. :p (Maids are also great for catching lizards, cockroaches, and all sorts of household pests!) Plus it was Samuel who was the driving force behind buying Hammie!

cute and Matt looks so happy with her but no hamsters for me. Don't really like to have to catch them when they run away.

I think early exposure helps. Besides, he's a boy so must not be so gu-niang and scared of these little animals. :P

Be careful - I don't know if you know that hamsters bite when not handled carefully. I got biten when I was young. Quite painful as I recall , like needle prick.

But I love the idea of kids having pets. Apparently it makes them more loving and responsible! And Matt looks SO happy!

I would love to get Josh a puppy after we're done with all the moving across countries ! He adores dogs cos we have one at my mum's place in Sg and one at my IL's place in Sydney. But I have to be prepared to be the one cleaning up after the dog! :(

Yes, they do bite! But thankfully, Hammie hasn't done anything like that yet.

A dog would be great! But I don't think I'll consider having a dog for now. Alison has to be older first ... But I remember it was so nice going home and our dog would be waiting for us, so excitedly every day! I would love to let my kids know the joy of having a dog. :)
