Yes, it poured the whole time were were there (Olympic Penninsula side of Hood Canal). Gorgeous scenery, great company (even the teenager was gracious, especially being out of cell phone range during the first weekend of summer break for her!).
Wildlife spotted during trip: eagles, turkey vultures, quail, deer, elk...and we heard owls every night.
I know we missed other really cool events while we were gone, but we got some much-needed quiet contemplative time after weeks of chaos.
Bridge by Lilliwaup where elk were spotted in the estuary
Elk! Most of them were settled down to rest rather than standing by the time I got the car parked and the camera out (and the enbankment hiked down with dress hiked up) but we counted fourteen heads altogether! Very healthy herd.

Dwindling stream-bed
Gorgeous, the picture and my crappy camera does not do the scenery justice!
