A few of my aids from the occupational therapist turned up this morning, I've been sent a stool for the bathroom, chair raisers (the armchair is so low and soft that even my in-shape other half has trouble getting out of it), foam cutlery handles to make it easier to hold my fork when my hands are rebelling against me, and a hook to do up buttons ( Read more... )

I just use the wheelchair outdoors at the minute, although if it comes to it that I need it indoors as well we should be able to manage. There's no a great deal of space, but it's workable, and the house is all on one level, so no stairs to manage! The OT actually told me that they don't normally give wheelchairs out to people who only need them for outdoor use, normally it needs to be an indoor + outdoor need, but because of my condition and my obvious mobility problems they were going to make sure I got one ( ... )

I'm delighted that at least some of your hardships are being addressed. I know the wheels turn slowly for medical appointments, but I hope your's comes soon. (That may be the only saving grace for American medicine!)

Best wishes to you as you endure so graciously.

He STILL hasn't done it? Is there a time limit for blue badge applications? (still haven't got around to reading our stuff about it yet!) Did you ask him again?

I decided not to ask in the end, because he was rushed and I already had to leave a note with the receptionist (who also happens to be his wife) to prod him about that OTHER letter I'm waiting on which I need a bit quicker, you know the one. =)

I don't think there's a time limit, when I was talking to them on the phone they just said they were waiting on his reply before they could proceed.

This OT sounds like she's really on her stuff. It doesn't sound like there's a big gap between when she says things are coming and when things actually show up. That's a relief.

So what did the GP have to say?

P.S. So sorry I couldn't get to this right away. Between McQueen with Fashion Week here, and the professor in Huntsville, and Kevin Smith, even people I'm supposed to be *really* close to this V-Day weekend have been sadly neglected. <3 to you.

I know, it's actually a strange feeling to have someone saying to you 'it'll be there on Friday' and it actually arriving on Friday, first thing in the morning, no less! She seems like a lovely girl, I hope she doesn't move on because I want to keep her forever!!

I didn't say anything to the GP in the end, I've got other stuff I need him to do as well and so I don't want to appear like I'm moaning at him the whole time. Just have to be patient for a bit longer, lol. Once he's done the other stuff then I can start pestering him again!!

Just cannot seem to wake up these past few days, just want to sleep constantly. Don't know what that's about. I'm sure you'd love that luxury!
