Found it. It's a cover (as I suspected.) This recording isn't the worst i've heard, but it does suck is that in reality, the sound and vocals at a live concert with him are actually amazing, even better than the recorded stuff, and while I'm immensely grateful to those that video and post these things, they really... really don't do him justice

Wow, he's putting a hell of a lot more intensity into it than Gnarls Barkley put into the original recording. o_o Although I'm not really surprised he liked the song.

Indeed... now how am I going to get a good recording of David's version?

On a related note, how many concerts do you think before you start approaching groupie? I mean, before this last one I was kind of thinking I didn't really want to go. Now I'm ready to put money down on tickets to his Markham show.

Well, I look at it like this: you can go to an unlimited number of concerts and remain "fan", possibly "devoted fan" or even "zealous fan", but "groupie" status is achieved only by offering sexual favours to a musician in as a token of appreciation, or offering the same to roadies for the chance to meet the group.
