Somehow, I find the Wraith more "civil" than the Reavers. At least with Wraith, humans are merely down the food chain. Hmm...wonder how tasty the Reavers would be to the Wraith...
The civility is what makes them creepier, in my mind. Psycho space cannibals are bad, yeah, but the Wraith have that Hannibal Lecter vibe where they'll share a conversation and a glass of wine before they eat you.
Very, very nice. River's voice is perfect, the kind of meandering wistfulness that describes her as she describes everything else. And I agree with everyone else-- the dinosaur line rocks. As for how to bring it up in casual conversation, I could see it even just being Wash overhearing a discussion between a couple other people... But River's gotta be there to see!
I'm actually trying to write some straight Firefly from a different pov, but I'm not having any luck. Apparently River's voice is the only one I can get.
i seriously love this. you have a fabulous River voice. and even if you don't know where the Inara/Weir came from, it's still lovely. and with that in mind, methinks it might make it's way into my next fic...

Oh and this line:
There's a war, good people fighting and dying for freedom from an alliance of reavers.
I just wrote this line on part 2 of "Someone Else's Sky" a few days ago:
"O, zhe zhen shi ge kuaile de jinzhan! Me and mine get zapped into a whole 'nother galaxy and I still got to deal with gorramn Reavers?"
Good to know I'm not the only one who noticed the parallel! ;-)

I'm never quite sure that being able to channel the crazy girl is a good thing, but thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
