Well, after almost eight years together . . . David and I are divorced.  We are also going our separate ways.

This means I need to find a place to live and a job in a short amount of time, but not for long term.  And I am hoping to avoid anyone who has any romantic/sexual interests in me . . . I am saving myself for the man who steals my heart/

I'm sorry! I thought things were going better and you two were moving to Nebraska? You may want to look at the job market up here. It isn't nearly as bad as it was, and if you look, you can still find reasonable places for not a while lot. If you want I can probably help.
