I just got an update on Woody. He is doing wonderful! Apparently, he prefers men. He sat (yes, sat!) on Ann's husband's shoulder and groomed his beard for an hour! And took to his new bird room and sang his song all night. He seems extremely happy already. I think he has truly found the home he was meant for. This makes me feel so much better. ( Read more... )

I'm so sorry to read about your troubles with Woody. Having to rehome something is always horrible. Like our Umbrella Cockatoo, Lucy, who we got by accident (my sister was working in a pet shop and Lucy plucked when she was left alone, so she came home one Christmas and stayed for years). Unfortunately as she matured she decided to hate my dad. Since she didn't live in a cage it all became really stressful and horrible. And cockatoos are loud when they're angry. At her worst living with her was much tougher than our macaw.

However, the home we found for her was a couple with no kids and she utterly adored the husband. Like completely fell for him - she did the beard grooming too. We have a few pictures of the pair of them together, Lucy all snuggled up in his arms, coyly peeping over his sleeve - the hussy :D

I'm glad he's got a good home, and I'm glad you found it for him.
