Sadly whiny vocalists are just a new fixture of culture... like those little puffy frilly miniskirts that are everywhere, we can't seem to kill them off fast enough... they keep... spawning...and...stuff...dot...dot...dot...

Emo = OK... depending on the band... cuz ya know... it means... emotional

There are a few bands that can make it without sounding exactly like the other emo bands... a good example of this is Thursday

however, most of them have in fact, like much of music today, descended into the abyss that we have titled

"boo hoo hoo, my girlfriend dumped me, and I'm really really hurt"

Oh, I have no problem with emotional lyrics. A lot of the bands I listen to have emotional lyrics.
But I can't stand bands that whine about stupid shit so 13 year olds will buy their albums.

yeah, they have hired someone to do all the whiny vocals for everyone.
but it is also the "accepted" style of "singing" nowadays.
it's disgusting.
