Regarding WoW: Cataclysm

If you're not a WoW player, or have no interest in the upcoming expansion, you can go ahead and not read this post. I won't feel hurt.  ALSO: If you have not heard a lick about it, you should go to www.worldofwarcraft.com/cataclysm and check it out. No seriously. I'll give you like...5 minutes to go do that.

Actually, ALL of the damage done to Azeroth was done by Deathwing. The best part? It was done cause Deathwing woke up. Not that he cast Meteor on the planet and the Lifestream was like FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, but just cause he was like "*snerk* Oh...nnn...guess it's time to wake up" *KABOOM*. That's why it's supposed to sneak up on everyone.

I'm gonna miss the classic zones cause I have a lot of nostalgia tied up in them, but I was looking at screenshots and I felt the old excited bug that I used to have to explore new zones back when I first started WoW. I'm really hoping though that what Metzen said in the opening ceremonies means all this bullshit with Garrosh and Thrall and Cairne isn't going to happen. It's all pretty outlandish, but where expansions are concerned, I sort of have to treat Blizzard's lore changes to benefit said expansion with very cautious hands. We got burned with BC, Wrath didn't really hurt, but with everything being in such strong upheaval, the constants that I felt were solid suddenly seem up for

My concern, since BC, is that the cleverest thing Blizzard has been able to do is kill their end boss. The last two expansions were us going to new places and killing guys who used to be good. Now we're going back home to kill a guy who used to be good. By the time Blizzard is on their 17th expansion, they will have killed everyone of any moral ambiguity. (Granted, these days, Deathwing has no ambiguity ( ... )

Bosses that get away: Mal'Ganis, Freya, Thorim, Hodir, Kael'thas (Tempest keep version), Kiil'Jaeden, the Champions in ToC.
Those are just the ones off the top of my head.

Im currently hoping that Arthas is defeated but not killed. I'd love to see him as a prisoner in Cataclysm. Plus it'd make for an interesting redemption story if in the expansion after Cataclysm he is freed to fight against the Burning Legion.

Maybe the Dragon Aspects would be able to contain him somehow.

I don't know. I'm not getting my hopes up, at this point. Since I did that quest chain in Icecrown concerning his soul, I don't think there's a whole lot to redeem.
