Willow looked over her reflection again in the mirror. Why was she nervous? He was still Oz, who cared if he was a werewolf.
She straightened her hair. She wanted to look sexy for him tonight, but she felt she looked dorky. Could she ever look sexy, she pondered to her reflection. She didn’t remember trying so hard for a date in a long time. She usually wasn’t one to normally care about her appearance. She was sure anything she would wear would be fine, she shouldn’t be so nervous.
Willow bit her lip frustrated. She put her hair up, and then took it down. She brushed it quickly.
"Oz is here," her mother called from downstairs.
Willow took a deep breath, and came down the stairs quickly, she tripped on the last one but caught her balance before she took a nasty tumble.
"You okay?" Oz asked coming to her side.
She nodded.
He gave her a warm smile, and handed her a single red rose he had hidden behind his back.
She smiled back. She took from him, smelling it. It didn't smell like much of anything, but she had heard some flowers now were bred with no scents because of people's allergies. She wasn't sure if it was true or not, or if she was so excited that her senses were being weird.
Oz offered her his arm, and they strolled out of the house.
He gave her a soft smile, as he opened the van door for her. His eyes seemed to be searching hers for some clue of something wrong.
Willow gave him the sweetest smile she could muster. Could he tell she was nervous? She would hate for him to think she was doubting him. She wasn't, well not completely. She had remind herself that it was Oz, he was the same as he always had been, well besides turning into a monster once a month. Its not like she couldn’t be a bit of a bitch on her time of the month. Not where she would eat little baby rabbits, but that she could devour whole cases of chocolate bunnies.
“You sure this is okay?” He turned to her a little quizzically.
“Its fine, I told you it was fine… I am just nervous… I am not sure why… You always get butterflies around you…” She realized she was babbling again.
He leaned over and kissed her softly on the lips. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She gave him a warm smile. She enjoyed the feelings of kissing him, it made her feel like she was filled with all kinds of happy bubbles. They barely kissed it seemed, and it was nice for him to make the initiative...Not that he didn’t always, she should probably make the initiative more, but she always felt the guy should… It shouldn’t matter much, why was she was worried about it. She was a strong, independent woman, she should be able to do what she wanted, if she wanted to kiss him, or hold his hand, she shouldn’t worry about it.
Oz touched her chin, and turned her face towards him. “You okay?”
“Oh course… I don’t know what is wrong with me.” She gave him a soft smile. She was not only babbling out loud, but inside her head as well. “So what are we going to do?”
“Surprise.” He made sure that Willow had buckled up, before he started his van, and they began to drive off.
“Is it a good surprise, or a bad surprise?” Willow asked. She was sure it was a good surprise. Why would he would give her a bad surprise, that would just seem like a dumb thing for him to do. He wouldn’t do that. She shouldn’t have asked.
“Bad.” He chuckled. “Oh course its good.”
“Yeah, why would you give me a bad surprise… I guess I shouldn’t have asked.” She giggled a little, realizing how silly the question was.
Oz laughed.
Willow could feel herself getting less nervous. She knew there was nothing to worry about, she knew everything would be fine. There was no reason for her to be nervous in the first place. Just because he was a werewolf doesn’t mean anything.
They drove for a little bit, until they came to a small section of the woods. He pulled over.
“Are you sure this is safe?” Willow asked a little nervously, she didn’t like the ideas of the woods anymore. (If she ever did) The woods were scary, evil things live in the woods. There might be vampires stalking in the woods, there could be any kind of creatures in the woods. They lived near the hellmouth, anything could happen.
“It’s safe.” He unbuckled his seat, and walked around the van to open her door.
She unbuckled her seatbelt, and got out.
He opened the side door on the van, and pulled out a picnic basket.
“This is actually kind of nice.” It seemed kind of fun to have a picnic in the woods.
“Figured since I wake up here a couple nights a month, we might want to picnic here.”
Willow found herself giggling. Her boyfriend always had such great ideas. He was not only planning something romantic, but he was able to make a joke about it, without it being a big deal.
Oz closed the van door, and took Willow’s hand. They walked a little bit away from the van, until they came to a clearing.
“Let me guess we are having raw meat to celebrate you now being a werewolf.”
He chuckled. “Didn’t think of that. We do have sandwiches though.” He took a blanket out of the basket, and placed it on the ground.
They both sat on the blanket. Oz opened the basket, and began to pull things out. He pulled out two sandwiches wrapped in cellophane, and handed one to her.
He then pulled out two cans of soda, and handed her one.
She opened her can, and took a small sip. “So did you always know you were a werewolf, and just didn’t want to tell me?” She asked curiously. Maybe now wasn’t the time, not sure if there was a proper time to ask that. “Its okay if I ask you questions… I mean if you don’t want me too, I don’t have to.. I don’t want you to think I am prying or anything. I am just a bit curious.”
“ No, its okay. I just found out. My cousin bit me, so I turned into one. What is a little biting between family.” He unwrapped his sandwich and took a bite.
She wasn't sure if she liked the idea of him being biten, but he seemed to be taking it in stride.
“Apparently it runs in my family, now.” Oz shrugs as if there is nothing he can do about it.
“I guess biting you is one way to show cousin rivalary.” She leaned over and kissed him softly on the cheek. She didn’t want to think of Oz being attacked. The thought scared her, she liked him a lot more than she had anyone in a long time, and she wanted him to stick around in her life for a long time.
Oz moved slightly closer to her on the blanket, and kissed her softly on the lips. “You are beautiful in this moonlight,” he murmured as he started to kiss her again. One of his hands began to run through her hair.
Willow kissed him back. She wondered if tonight would be the night for something more, would she be ready if it was time for something more. Did she want it to be something more? She should really stop yammering in her head, and enjoy the moment. It was kind of their first official date, so they probably shouldn’t go all the way. She would probably hate to think what Oz would think about her if she just had sex with him tonight.
He pulled away for a second, and watched her. “I hope I am not pushing too much.”
Willow found herself giggling nervously. “We were just kissing.”
“I know.”
Willow unwrapped her sandwich, and took a bite. “I didn’t think anything was going to come from just kissing,” She felt herself blushing.
“You are cute when you blush.” He kissed her softly on the lips. Oz chuckled.
Willow was about to deepen the kiss, when they both jumped from the sound of a twig being snapped sounded behind them.
They both turned to the sound, and saw a small baby deer walking near them.
Neither spoke as they watched the deer for a few minutes, not wanting to scare the deer off.
“Beautiful,” Willow whispered.
“Not as beautiful as you.” Oz said below his breath.
She turned to him. “What?”
Oz kissed her again softly on the lips.
Willow felt herself blushing again, she felt so safe and happy at the moment. It was hard to think of the last time she had felt like that. She moved closer to him, so she can deepen the kiss. She could wished she could stay in the moment forever. She wasn’t sure what to expect but this felt like their first date all over again.
