Hmmm.

I seem to be living in a mirror universe, since I am apparently the only person in fandom who like Star Trek Into Darkness a LOT and was terribly disappointed by Iron Man 3.

It's weird over here, trust me.

I liked Star Trek! issaro did too.

And Iron Man 3 had parts I enjoyed, but I'm still not sure about the overarching narrative? Like, what the hell was going on?

Yes, yes, this was my problem with IM3. I definitely enjoyed part of it--pretty much everything Robert Downey Jr. said, did, or wore--but I felt like the "plot" was mess. I've decided I just don't really like Shane Black's directorial style. I wasn't a big fan of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, either, and had the same overall issues with that that I did with this.

Oh thank god! There's another person who didn't like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang! I thought I was alone in the universe.

Iron Man 3's plot was incoherent. If I ignore it and focus on Tony Stark raiding a hardware store to build makeshift tech and then bantering with a little boy, then I'm cool. AIM and Extremis and the rest... Not so much.

LOL. I was more like 'eh' on both, but I feel you on being out of step w/ fandom w/ opinion. Well, eh except for the fact that EVERY SINGLE LINE READING by Zachary Quinto in a scene w/ Kirk was at full twitterpat.

I loved Star Trek.

I think maybe the serious ST fans were expecting something else? I'm still not clear on what, though. ST is supposed to be silly imo. People have gotten really nitpicky about stuff that I think gets covered with the blanket of this is the THE DILITHIUM CRISTAL CANNAE TAKE IT CAPTAIN! franchise, not to mention the original Khan's style choices.

Whatever, I love Benedict Sausagenoodle and will watch anything he's even brushing up again (see: The Hobbit).
