The identities of seven boys allegedly killed by a man named Bayquni, also known as Babe, were released by police on Friday.
Babe told police on Thursday that he had murdered the seven boys, mutilating four of them. Police have so far only confirmed the details of the four most recent deaths.
Babe told police that his first victim was Aris. His age was unknown. Aris was killed in Kuningan, West Java, in 1997.
In 2005, Babe told police had had murdered Riki, aged between 9 and 12. His body was not mutilated and was dumped near Pulo Gadung bus station in East Jakarta.
In April 2007, he allegedly killed a boy named Yusuf whose body was found in a cardboard box in Kelapa Gading, East Jakarta. His corpse was found intact with a plastic rope around his neck.
Babe allegedly began mutilating his victims after he killed Adi, 12, in July 2007. Adi’s severed body was dumped at Pasar Klender, East Jakarta.
His next alleged mutilation victim was Arif, 6, in May 2008. The body was found in a cardboard box at Pulo Gadung bus station.
In January 2008, he allegedly killed Rio. The boy’s mutilated body was found in a cardboard box in front of Bekasi Trade Center.
His last victim was allegedly Ardiansyah, 9. The busker boy’s body was found near the East Flood Canal on Jalan Raya Bekasi, East Jakarta, on January 8, 2010.
All of his victims were boys under the age of 12. Babe allegedly told Jakarta Police that he found satisfaction in abusing the boys.
Adding to his list of victims, alleged serial killer and pedophile Bayquni told the police on Wednesday he remembers killing two more boys under the age of 12 and dumping their bodies in Central Java.
“He initially admitted to killing eight children. He just confessed to killing two more boys, whose bodies he buried separately in the cities of Magelang and Purworejo,” said Idham Aziz, chief detective for the West Jakarta Police, adding that the 49-year-old Bayquni, also known as Babe, identified the two victims as Irwan and Ardi.
“Irwan’s body was dumped in Purworejo in 1995. Ardi’s body was dumped in Magelang in 2004,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar added on Wednesday.
Babe told police he murdered and mutilated the two victims in Jakarta before traveling to Central Java by bus to dump the body parts, Boy said. Police are working under the assumption that the two victims, like the other eight, were street children who were killed for “sexually rejecting” Babe’s advances.
“For the time being, we believe that is the motive. There is nothing suggesting black magic rituals or anything like that,” Boy said.
Investigators escorted Babe to locations in Magelang and Purworejo - where the victims’ body parts were believed to be buried - but found nothing.
Police also said they dug up a location in Kuningan, West Java, after Babe, originally from Magelang in Central Java, stated that he had buried his first victim, Aris, on the banks of the Ciwaru River in 1998 or 1999.
“We found a body. But police in Kuningan insist that it isn’t the body of Aris, but some other victim. We are investigating the matter further,” Boy said.
Separately, police have arrested three more suspected child predators, including a teacher. Setiabudi Police detectives in South Jakarta have arrested two of the three suspects.
“The first is a 44-year-old teacher of religious affairs who was arrested after locals reported him on suspicions of sexually abusing local children. The second is a 79-year-old man arrested for allegedly molesting his neighbor’s four-year-old daughter,” an officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, North Jakarta Police are interrogating a man identified only by his initials, APS, who has admitted to raping 15 children.
“He talks in circles. We believe he is dishonest,” Comr. Adex Yudiswan, chief of detectives with the North Jakarta Police, said on Wednesday, adding that he planned to show the suspect to street children in the Tanjung Priok area of North Jakarta, to see if they could provide more information.
