The way the 'system' runs now you have to not only have money but LOTS of money. I like public financing of elections/campaigns for just this reason. Level the playing field and the best person will most likely win. Right now it's quite often only a 'game' that the rich can play...

Unfortunately, in order to get past the primaries you have to raise a few million.

Clinton was broke when he got elected. During his last term, they were afraid that he was going to be the first president in history to have to declare bankruptcy.
