It is totally appropriate when most of the attendees complained that the venue was too far away from every public transportation (unless you enjoy changing trains and buses a gazillion times) but I was lucky, it only took me a two hour drive by car to get there. So, you see, I can’t really complain. It was the only venue they could find, and I found out that it’s much more expensive to rent convention space here in Germany than in the UK. Drat that! If we’ll get another German con (and there is a slight chance that we will), you can bet your sweet behind that I’ll be there again. Or maybe not! I don’t really know yet what I’ll do. As Sir Peter Ustinov said (and sadly I’m paraphrasing here as I don’t remember his exact words): I wake up every day a new person, so I may change my mind about things. Word!
Unfortunately, German cons are very different from UK cons cos the German attendees don’t know how to
a) get in line properly without clogging up the entire hallway,
b) not jump a line and
c) let everyone pass who have an upgrade or belong to group A-C (who actually are allowed in first).
I was in group in B and a friend of mine had a diamond upgrade. You may use your power of deduction to understand how much that pissed us off. There were a lot of newbies this time around and that was maybe why the queuing didn’t work out that well.
Other than that it was a great con. As usual with Rogue cons it was chaos galore (and, yes, they were running late…who’d’ve thought…hehe), I missed most Q&As (but thanks to youtube I’m gonna be able to see what happened while I was having fun at the coffee lounges) but I got two (yes, TWO) coffee lounges with Misha, one with Jim Beaver, one where Jim Michaels and Steven Turner were together and (apart from the ones with Misha) my favorite one a double coffee lounge with Carrie Anne Fleming and Matt Cohen. These two are such amazing people and I’m glad that Carrie survived and - hopefully - enjoyed her first con experience with us.
10 Things I can say about the Asylum Europe 3 convention:
No. 1) If I ever thought that Misha Collins’ answers during Q & As were inappropriate I changed my mind. He’s actually tame compared to Sebastian Roché who is an effing force of nature when let loose on stage. Even Misha will capitulate (maybe cos he was sick but I sincerely doubt it cos he told us at another con that when he was having dinner with Seb and others and where his sister was also hat he asked him to watch what he was saying. That coming from Misha is something I never thought I’d ever hear!). So, if somebody tells you that Seb is inappropriate, you better believe it! I’ve never seen anybody getting off on saying naughty stuff the way that Seb does when he’s in front of a crowd that mainly consists of women (some of them underage but who’s asking).
No. 2) Carrie Anne Fleming is amazing. She’s even prettier in person than she is on-screen. She hugged me goodbye when she, Matt, Steven and Jim Michaels came down the stairs behind us and we made room for them to pass us by. Needless to say that I totally love her and that I can’t wait to see her again next weekend. Lookie here, what she wrote on my autograph:
No. 3) Matt Cohen is the kind of guy that had I been fortunate enough to have a brother I hope said brother would have been like him. He is the cutest guy in the world actually and I totally love him, amazingly enough in an entirely big sister sort of way. Seriously, the video he made for his dad for mother’s day where he involved all of the attendees is so sweet it brings tears to my eyes. I loved my coffee lounge with him and Carrie with the two of them sitting on the floor in the middle of a circle of attendees (they were surrounded by about 29 girls and one token guy) answering all our questions. The conversation between him and Carrie regarding their acting and how they approach it was wonderful (Matt is totally method, and Carrie isn’t, she was going through a divorce when she was filming Death’s Door and Jim helped her a lot. I think she really loves Jim but then again, who doesn’t?). Btw, the first five minutes Matt only talked about how everything Seb does is sexual. He described how Seb had told them the day before that he was going to take a nap in the Green Room wearing his black pants and black V-neck t-shirt and sunglasses and when he lay down he uttered a totally sexual groan. I’m not a psychologist but I think Matt is pretty darn impressed by Seb. Mancrush alert! :D
No. 4) From what I’ve heard from two friends who were at the Meet & Greet (I wasn’t there cos it was on Friday and I only arrived there on Saturday morning, or as I like to call it, the middle of the night) Jim Michaels either doesn’t like the Cas storyline or, worse, he doesn’t like Misha. I’m hoping the former is true. As a Cas ‘girl’ you may be able to understand that this did not endear him to me…at all.
No. 5) When asked about Random Acts and his work in Haiti Misha will switch to serious mode in a matter of seconds but will still know how to confuse the attendee who finished her question with ‘If you know what I mean’ at the end of it. I saw this again on youtube and I just laughed my ass off. That man is so effing smart, and witty, and quick, and dirty and…and…and all of the above :D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2-idKxagrs No. 6) German attendees are very subdued during the coffee lounges. Either that or it was cos half the attendees were newbies (and so very young too!) that they didn’t know what to ask. Granted that most of them had a very strong German accent and it was harder for the guests to understand them when they asked a question but I still would have liked them to be more talkative. I don’t have a problem asking questions but I’m always afraid that the other attendees might think I wanna talk to the guests all the time. I don’t. I just feel awkward having the guests sitting there and no one dares ask them anything. That’s when I usually ask something.
No. 7) Misha has an ear for languages. If he were to stay in Germany for half a year I’m sure he’d be effing fluent and have close to no accent. Have I mentioned before that I think he’s a perfect human being? No? Well, I’m saying it now. And he’s staying in Rhodes (how could I not love him when he's staying in my home country) at the moment which to him seemed to be a pretty good base for all the cons (Rome, Rio, Bad Wildungen, Birmingham) but he realized that getting off that island is pretty darn difficult. As a Greek (and a smarty pants :P) all I wanted to say is: you should’ve asked a Greek person, Misha! But, of course, I didn’t do that. I will never dare say anything to Misha that might make him feel like a fool (not that I think he’ll ever feel like one). I managed to say no to him two times during another con but not a third time when he asked me if he could have a picture I had with me of Jason just so he could write ‘Free blowjobs’ on it. See, what I mean?
No. 8) During the first coffee lounge I had with Misha he asked a guy how many cons he’d been to (he said 35/36) and then he asked me too. I had to clear my throat (and, thank God, I was sitting down) and told him that by the end of this year I will have been to ten Supernatural conventions. My first con was Asylum Europe 1 and, boy, do I still remember how my knees got week when he walked into the Meet & Greet room (for further information, please read my one and only report of than con :D…or not).
No. 9) Unfortunately, I haven’t really seen a lot of Mark Pellegrino and Mark Sheppard during this con which is a real shame cos I love those guys. But I’m sure I’ll be able to find out what they were up to on youtube. I can not believe how fast the attendees were with uploading the vids of that weekend. Thanks, ladies. Even though I could sometimes kick this fandom’s collective butt I have to admit that when it comes to sharing, we are an effing awesome fandom.
No. 10) Guests I will never tire of seeing again and again are: Misha Collins (duh!), Matt Cohen, Carrie Anne Fleming, Jim Beaver. And Jason Manns. As a backer of his Kickstarter project I’m even happier to see and hear him now. And I can’t believe that I will see and hear him three times in eight days as I will also attend his concert here in Frankfurt on Thursday.
By the way, it’s funny (cos I’ve been to so many cons now and have met the man more than a half dozen times) how I still get tongue-tied whenever Misha’s around. It’s okay when I have people around me like in the coffee lounges but when it’s just me and him during the photo ops I just wanna get it over with as quickly as possible. And what’s even funnier is that he is the only one I have this ‘problem’ with. I can talk to Jared, I can talk to Jensen, I can talk to any other of the guests. But Misha is…I don’t know how to describe it. It’s not just cos he’s so pretty, Jensen is absolutely gorgeous too as is Matt, but I just don’t wanna make a fool of myself in front of him (again that is, cos the one time I did will last me a lifetime :( ). I’m sorry if most of the things I have to say about this con have something to do with Misha. I’m afraid I’m totally partial to him. God, I’m so effing screwed :D
I would like to thank the wonderful

To misquote that song from Avenue Q: the internet is for p*** staying in touch with fellow fangirls who over the years have become dear friends. I <3 you all!
Peace out!
