Did you watch 'The Kids Are Alright'? If not, then don't click on the spoilerage link below. I'm going to tell you all how I'm dealing with the new information given about Mary.
All of Mary's family is dead, all her friends. You ask how/if I'm going to incorporate this into 'Extempore'? Well, I like the idea. It can give the story a huge dramatic conclusion - not that Mary dying wouldn't be a heartfelt, dramatic conclusion in and of itself. It can, however, be amazing if I can write it with justice.
I want to keep this story as close to the show as humanly possible. I've been fretting over how to rectify the huge mysterious secret of Mary coming out in 'The Kids Are Alright' since the spoilers leaked weren't in great detail. I was pleasantly surprised it wasn't "Mary was a witch" or "Mary was an alien" or something outrageous like that. It still fits into my theme of Mary being a hunter. Even if we find out say she wasn't a hunter - oh, Mary's still going to be a hunter in this story and in the series. I just hope that somehow she is because it would still keep the series/story true to the show.
Sam mentions that 'her uncle' died which isn't an obstacle. I already had in mind that he would die - I think I wrote down he dies in 1999. There were Mary's friends and such that died in 2006 according to Sam, so that's not a problem. I am adding Mary's nonexistent brother into the series, but I think I have a way to work around why Sam and Dean never knew about Ben - ha! Makes me think of Dean's little boy that I'm convinced is really his.
Anyways, I always wanted to somehow make a story where Sam and Dean meet Ben after John died. The meeting is playing around in my head for a while so perhaps I could write a little one-shot or something that shows the meeting between the uncle they never knew. Therefore, I don't know if I'm going to kill Ben or not. I sort of like him - even though he's a huge jerk to everyone.
What do you think?
