Last night after my judo class, I went to the grocery store to grab a few things. Just inside the doors, I encountered the mother of one of the students from the kids' class (I've been helping out, acting as the judo dummy - you know).
She looked at me in surprise and said, "Heidi! I almost didn't recognize you with your clothes on!"

My 16-year-old daughter has long, blonde hair. She's recently told me that she plans to have it cut short in December, mostly because she wants to donate it so that it can be used to make a wig (for cancer patients, etc.). She was inspired by the mother of her best friend; the mother is battling breast cancer.
She is awesome, and I am so proud. -

For the first time in my life, I'm going on an extended, get-away-from-it-all vacation; Tim & I are going to Newfoundland for almost 2 weeks. We'll be hiking, camping, staying in B&B's, doing the tourist thing - from Rose Blanche in the southwestern corner, up past Gros Morne.
