I was half listening to the news last night while ironing and I heard something about changing French fries and French toast to being called Freedom fries and toast. I thought it was a joke. I mean, I realize that some politicians are trying to make a point, but come on, do they really think the French are going to care that we modified some food ( Read more... )

Once I heard that they honestly changed it to "freedom fries"... I think I lost all faith in my country at that point. We're on the brink of war and they still have time to be petty.

I'm trying to figure out when our government became more like a kindergarten class than anything else.

Oh, yeah. Read my last post for my full view on it. I'm sure I'll make plenty of people on my friends list mad who are saying, "Yeah! Go us! We're so cool! Fuck France!" and laughing about it.

I don't find it humorous at all. I'm embarrassed. We sit around wondering why people hate Americans so much and I defend us to a large extent. But on this issue, all I can do is sit back and cover my face. Ugh.

What difference does it make the change the name of something. Why not revamp the whole language. Maybe Swiss Steak should no longer be called Swiss STeak. I just find it assanine to even bother to change the names of something that's been it's name for so long. A rose by any other name is still a rose, yes, but we know a rose by a rose.

freedom fries!? Yeah, that's bound to catch on fast..:P Can you imagine anyone keeping a straight face while asking their server to Super-Size their Freedom Fries? how insane~! (and highly amusing)
