SO all next week I shall be in Boston for training. I am pretty excited for 2 reasons. 1. I will not have to be at my apt for an entire week which will be nice. I might actually get to sleep good for once! (although I am a little nervous as to what is going to happen while I'm gone.) and 2. Meg is coming up on Wed and we are going to go to ( Read more... )

what is this f stop? someone was telling me that it might help with my grainy pictures that i took recently. i was really bummed that they came out grainy seeing as it was a 700 dollar camera with 10 megapixels.

the f stop is the aperature which is essentially how much light is being let in. I don't really think that would have too much impact on grain as it is more to do with focus..but perhaps it is blurry and the camera is trying to sharpen the image thus making it grainy?? I would recommend to you (which I told you before I believe)that if you are going to shoot in manual to keep the f stop at or above f60 and try to keep the shutter at around 5/6...unless you have a stablizer on your lens, then you could perhaps go lower..Everyone naturally shakes so unless you have a tripod it will be a little bit blurry under f60. Make sense??? haha Also, check what you have your ISO set too..that usually has to do with grain (it is essentially the same thing as film speed...the higher the number the more grain)For instance with film cameras 200 speed film is going to have much less grain than 800 speed film BUT 800 is more ideal for low light situations, etc.
