That's a good question and I have an answer for you. I'm going to make an analogy to Santa Claus. Is Santa Claus real? You know the Santa that brings us gifts on Christmas eve and who rides his slay through the night sky being led by flying raindeer; does that Santa exist? Well he doesn't, nor did he ever but we believe in him when we are young, many of us do, and this prompts us to be on our best behavior so we get a visit from the present man himself. That is the basis of morality, and as you see like everything else there is very little substance to it, it is primarily insubstantial with thin grounds of ice suporting it which only remain together for the simple fact that we refuse to look down to see how thin the ice really is
