We have no car stereo, as of Friday, due to the mechanics switching the battery off when they installed the new clutch (the old clutch was worn down to the rivets, which were themselves worn down), meaning we need a code because the stereo thinks it's been stolen. Thus my 4-hour drive to Suffolk on Friday was noiseless, other than occasional yells

Remove car stereo, acquire serial number, use serial number to get code (via internet or possibly phone call to Ford).
Remove car stereo, replace car stereo with another car stereo.
Acquire a music player of some sort that plugs in to the cig lighter and has either its own speakers or a set of headphones.
I didn't have time to do any of those things on Friday. I would probably have killed for the chance to listen to BBC Radio 4 for eight hours instead of my own croonings, so long as the victim deserved to die.

My car has been without any form of sound system for about 2 years now. I can come out with some horrible noises and giiberish songs when driving alone, which some might see as a useful outlet.
