If your originals are still in good nick, and you have all 6 of them, you probably don't need the new edition. If not, it's useful to have all 7 character classes in one place, etc., so I would recommend it. It does also tweak game balance very slightly so the classes are far more evenly balanced.
Either way, you'll get most bang for your buck in terms of new material if you pick up Friends and Foes, which is all-new material; the adventure Fury on the Deep, again brand new; and maybe In From The Cold (classic 80s White Dwarf material by Dave Morris, re-statted for DW) and The Prince of Darkness (still mostly like the original adventure, but with a lot more depth and background).

So if you are looking for a group that is coming to DW completely fresh with no preconceptions we're your chaps (and chapesses), but if you are looking for a group familiar with the line we don't fit the bill.
